About Us

Skillington Workshop Ltd. was established by Dr David Carrington, ACR FSA FIIC*, in 1997 and is an internationally recognised name in the field of heritage conservation. It specialises in the conservation of historic buildings, monuments, archaeology and museum objects. We work exclusively in the conservation of cultural heritage, which sometimes includes new commissions in historic settings.

We have a long-established and highly skilled team with a wide range of conservation and craft skills. With experts in stone and brick conservation, plasterwork, metalwork, ceramics, sculpture and church monuments, Skillingtons offers comprehensive solutions to any conservation challenge, whatever the scale. From historic buildings to museum collections, Skillingtons can offer all the expertise and advice you need.

Working with both public and private clients, Skillingtons is proud of its record in achieving the highest standards in every project it completes. We regularly work for homeowners, museums, English Heritage, the National Trust, The Churches Conservation Trust, the Historic Royal Palaces Agency and numerous Local Authorities.

Skillingtons is named after the Lincolnshire village in which it first started.

*Accredited Conservator-Restorer, Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, Fellow of the International Institute of Conservation. Dr Carrington has also been a voluntary Conservation Cases Recorder for the Church Monuments Society since 2005.
